General Rules and Instructions :

  •   Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal invites online applications from the prospective applicants for Ph.D 2026. The admission to Ph.D shall be governed by University Ph.D Regulation No. 27 and its subsequent amendments.
  • Applicants are advised to apply only if they fulfil the eligibility requirements. The onus of checking appropriate eligibility lies with the candidate. The Ph.D eligibility criteria is 1 year/2-semester Master's degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor's degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester Master's degree programme after a 3-year Bachelor's degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the Master's degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.

  • University will admit students who qualify for admissions in UGC-NET or similar National level tests based on an interview or through an Entrance Test conducted at the University level. The Entrance Test syllabus shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific. Students who have secured 50% marks in the entrance test shall be eligible to be called for the interview. 70% weightage will be given for written test and 30% for interview.
  • As per the University Ph.D regulations-27 and public notice no f-4-1 UGC-NET review committee / 2024 (NET) / 140648, dated 27-05-2024 issued by UGC, candidates of all three categories declared Passed in the UGC-NET exam result will be exempted from University entrance exam. The marks obtained in the NET exam will be valid only for one year. Therefore, only candidates who have passed the Dec-2024 and June 2025 examination will be eligible for the above exemption for session 2026-27. The JRF-qualified students are admitted into the Ph.D Programme based on only interview as per the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and procedures for Award of Ph.D Degree) Regulations 2022. For students who qualify in NET Categories 2 or 3 weightage of 70% will be given for UGC-NET test scores and 30% weightage for the interview for admission to Ph.D programmes. The Ph.D Admission will be based on the combined merit of NET marks and the marks obtained in the interview/viva voce.
  • A relaxation of 5% marks will be given in the entrance examination for the candidates domiciled in MP State and belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Differently-abled category/Economically Weaker Section (EWS), notified as such by M.P. Government guidelines and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time. Madhya Pradesh State Government Rules / University Admission Policy for reservation shall be applicable.
  •   How to Apply:
    • Interested applicants may apply through MP online portal:https://MCRPV.mponline.gov.in. For details, visit the University websitewww.mcu.ac.in.
    • The application fee for General Category (Non-refundable) is Rs. 2050 /- (Rs. 50/- portal fee included) for each application form. For SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Differently-abled category applicants of M.P. (Non-refundable) is Rs. 1050 /- (Rs. 50/- portal fee included) for each applications form. Applying in more than one discipline, a separate form and application fee shall be payable for each discipline application. Also, candidate will have to appear in each of the applied discipline specific papers separately.
    • Applicants can pay fee online through MP online authorized KIOSK in MP or through any ATM cum Debit card/Credit card or Net Banking from anywhere.
    • If your payment is deducted and receipt is not generated, pay the fee again, as previous amount will be reverted automatically into your account. For more details on this issue you can call MP online customer care number: 0755-6720200.
    • Applicant must upload his/her recent coloured photograph at the given space of the online application form. NET marksheet (If applicable) and PG marksheet and category certificate (if applicable) should be uploaded.
    • The name of the applicant must be the same as given in the mark sheet/grade sheet of the qualifying degree.
    • The information given in the online application form will be verified with the original documents at the time of interview. If it is found that an applicant has provided incorrect or false information or withheld some relevant information at the time of filling up the online application form, the applicant shall be debarred from admission or admission can be cancelled at any stage during the course of study without giving prior notice or any refunds.
    • Applicants shall be responsible to download the Admit card from MP-online portal a week prior to commencement of Entrance Examination and bring the hard copy at the time of entrance and interview along with valid Identity Proof.
    • Examination will be conducted in Offline Mode only. Examination centre will be at Makhanlal Chaturvedi University Campus, In front of M.P. State Shooting Academy, Bisankhedi, Bhopal Campus.
    • Applicant will be required to report in person for entrance examination and interview on given date and time. Non-appearance, for any reason, shall automatically disqualify the candidature for admission to Ph.D
    • There is no age limit for admission in Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programmes.
